It's a rare case where an
experimental music label actually wanders the world without a
real home base; Scott Nydegger's Radon label is such, picking up new
additions to its roster in unlikely locales, and intermingling its
players to create some unique sounds. WFMU occasionally catches up with
this crew, and this time Radon lands at Seizure's Palace studios in
Brooklyn to celebrate it's decade-long activities with a morphing, hour
long
three-part jam with Sikhara, Hhy and the Drums of Habnom, and United Scum Soundclash. |

Sikhara are back in the Bunker with Jonathan Saldanha in Porto, Portugal, completing work on their 4th album, a tribal war epic that incorporates many new elements to the band's sound. The release will be out in October to co-incide with their 3 month USA/Europe tour, marking the 10th anniversary of The Radon collective. A preview track is available in the audio section. Also in the course of the Anduni Tour's European leg, Sikhara have finished their first dvd. The film follows them across 3 continents and explores sounds from their 3 albums.

Sikhara’s U.S. tour of the “Anduni” live spectacle has been chiseled into
the tablets of history. Performing the entirety of the cd, the formation
of Nydegger/Drumure/Sharp functioned as a tight unit, slamming out the
album tracks with impressive precision. A huge thanks is extended to all
who made this voyage possible.
-AlbumIV- During the course of the “Anduni” tour, Sikhara took time at studios in upstate NY, Portland and Berkeley to unite with collaborators old and new, endeavoring to create their first full length, vinyl LP. The sound remains distinctly Sikhara, but takes the band in a more organic direction, driven by acoustic drumming and live vocals. The album is a tale of war between two elements our global community divided by culture and technology. This new album is slated for a September release, but neither a label nor pressing plant has been settled upon. Labels and manufacturers are welcome to get in touch. radonbooking@yahoo.com -2009 tours-
The European shows for “Anduni” will occur during April-June. The first
dates will be announced soon and booking inquiries are now being
accepted. |

NEWS (August, 2008) ANDUNI The new cd and tour from Sikhara is available now from URCK RECORDS! CD: Anduni is heavily themed in the music and culture from the countries of Armenia and Georgia. The name is taken from the title of a tragic Armenian opera, which literally means homeless. A host of engineers and collaborators put a hand into the recordings, which took place in France, Belgium, Portugal and Nashville, TN. |

TOUR: Sikhara will perform the complete Anduni cd on their upcoming tour. The accompanying spectacle is closely linked with the themes behind the music and represent a more refined twist to the savage visual elements of a Sikhara show. The USA portion of the tour is set for November and December, with Europe following in early 2009. Check the Live Events page for upcoming performances! |

NEWS (June, 2008) Just before the dawn of 2007, Sikhara released Bardos State on the extreme ethnic label, URCK. This was the most comprehensive recorded work of the band to date, including material registered on 3 continents. This included tracks from Seizure's Palace in Brooklyn, NYC, their notorious collaboration set in the ancient Senkoji Temple near Oaska and most importantly, a studio version of the new live set, captured in Portugal and performed on the subsequent tour. The tour circled the totality of Europe and the USA and even descended into Asia minor with mutilple performances in Ankara. The duo of Nydegger and Geoffriaud reproduced the content of the Bardos story with a theatrical presentation that still maintained a rigid musicality. For 2008, Sikhara will take new steps into the musical horizon they established with the travails of the past year. A short pause will insue partly due to the near amputation of one band members hand, but all will fall clearly into place as a part of a typically Sikhara story. Any further word will be spoken, by the new record and traditionally extensive tour to be realised in 2008.
