Daylight Bats CDr
URCK 2008
URCK
is proud to present Daylight Bats debut EP!
Daylight Bats is the collaboration of LA-based guitar players Jeremy
Morelock of the hop-frog kollectiv and Crispin Brooks, England native and
scholar of the Russian language and Holocaust studies. The ground rules
for the project were initially set at acoustic guitars-only to produce
percussive, minimalist guitar pieces influenced by Russian Futurist
composers, Balinese gamelan forms, and the positive yet dark moods of Krautrock. The Zero-Point EP shows an broadening of the acoustic duo
formula to include a maximal sonic resonance of layers of 6 and 12 string
guitar, concertina, bowed guitars, as well as epic foundations of
percussion from an empty locker, steel drums, and even the metal security
bars of the windows of the Zero-Point space itself. Recording engineer and
LA experimental noise composer STANE HUBERT joins in for a primitive burst
of miscellaneous percussion and post-industrial acoustic drone bliss.
Listen: The Offering,
Even as the Sun,
Is This all There is.
