Currently touring with SMEGMA and Steve MacKay of THe Violent Femmes and The
Stooges, Sikhara exists in a constant state of movement claiming no home. As the
founders of Radon, they have ceaselessly blended the accumulated inertia of
their
nomadic living and animalistic stage behavior into their voodoo soaked,
ritualistic sound. Since 2000 Sikhara have performed over 150 times in the US,
Europe and Japan. This technologically corrupted, yet primitive music lends
itself to the unique situations
the band has pursued for themselves on a surreal journey through seldom
encountered circumstance. 2003 marks the 5th European tour of Sikhara, where
they have visited more than a dozen countries.
Besides invading the clubs and squats, Sikhara have deviated from the path of
other touring bands to deliver performances in such extraordinary locales as
next door to the Taxim Police station in the center of Istanbul, Turkey, amidst
heaps of flaming scrap metal in Paris and deep within the tunnels of a coal mine
in Poland.
During their stay in Japan, Sikhara joined the Master Monk inside the 1400 year
old Zenjouki Temple in which he was born. Buddhist families walked the Osaka
temple's ground as chanting and clangings sounded from within.
Sikhara's next full length release is slowly being born from recordings at
Seizure's Palace in Brooklyn, NY , Track Brack mobile studio in Los Angeles and
Torino's O.F.F. The disc will be the first co-production from the entire network
of studios within the Radon collective. Many different incarnations of Sikhara
will be revealed in 2003 as they are joined by an array of other Radon
multi-instrumentalists and each member
strikes out on his own for solo performance. In the coming months Sikhara will
enlarge the scope of their touring to include yet unvisited cities and regions,
as well as offering new releases on vinyl and cd.
