The art community in Germany in the 20s thrived like never before with a whole generation who had lived through the apocalypse of 1914-1918. Major movements rose up such as the Expressionists, the Bauhaus, UFA film studios, Dadaism, etc... With the fascist takeover, however, creative people all over Europe had to run for their lives. Hitler held an exhibit of so-called "degenerate" art in the Haus der Kunst in Munich. http://www.philamuseum.org/collections/provenance/degenerate.shtml
We are on the verge of another fascist crackdown on artists. Creative people could inevitably find themselves banished to a fate wandering a far away desert populated by the worst elements of an eastern backlash against Yankee Empire, as well as hobbling children, so often victims of the landmines exported by the millions.
